The last Thing the Emma and Sheltie expect to find during their ride on the snowy fielsds is a very thin pony, tethered and left to fend for himself. All alone in the cold weather, the pony is suffering badly, It's up to Emma and Sheltie to rescue him, but will they get there in time?

Sheltie the little pony with a big heart! Emma's school is holding a fair, and Sheltie is going to give the children rides around the playing field. When he gets very interested in the janitor's storage shed, he is ordered to keep away. But Sheltie can hear noises coming from inside, and he won't stop until he finds out what- or who - it is!

Emma and her Shetland pony, Sheltie, meet a boy named Gregory who starts acting as if Sheltie is his pony. He even rides Sheltie without permission and falls off! Emma tells him to stay away. Sheltie begins missing Gregory.

In the first of these two stories, Emma and Sheltie compete in the Applewood Pony Show and show Melody Parker that cheats just can't win. In the second story, Emma hatches a plan to trap the saddle thiefs - but she really needs Sheltie's help to make the plan work.

Sheltie comes to the rescue when Emma falls through the ice on Horseshoe Pond, but when Sheltie becomes ill it is up to Emma to save her shetland pony's life.
